Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation met on Monday, June 8, at the Ellinger Fire Station. Greg Hunger, president, called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. All directors but one were in attendance. The board reviewed and approved the minutes from the previous virtual meeting, as well as approving to pay bills and accept the financial report.

Bradley Loehr sent a report which outlined several options for improvements at the WWTP. Additionally, he will submit a change order to USDA so that drilling for the new water well can begin.

Next, Scott Manuel presented the manager’s report. He noted that the WWTP is running with only one aerator; one has been sent in for repairs. The board reviewed and discussed options for replacement of said aerator. The board decided that at this time it would once again repair the aerator, since there are no funds to replace the aerator. Repairs will cost about $11,000; two new aerators would cost in the neighborhood of $75,000. Manuel also noted that de-ragging was done again on pump no. 1. Customers are urged to not flush paper towels, wipes, etc.; this causes problems with the waste water equipment, and is costing the corporation money. He also reported that the Omni-site alarm system is currently not reporting the booster pump run times accurately and investigations to possible causes are underway.

Next, the board took action on the tariff; grease trap fees/ inspections were added. The Board also took action on a standard service agreement.

Carissa Karisch, bookkeeper, reported on the TRWA conference she recently attended via virtual meetings.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 13, at the Ellinger Fire Station.
