The Schulenburg City Council approved a $75,000 loan from the Schulenburg Economnic Development Corporation to 3 Oaks RV Resort. The developer, Leon John Langhamer, agreed to a personal guarantee for repaying the loan.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce held its first fundraiser since the pandemic made its appearance. The Chamber sponsored a chicken noodle soup lunch and bake sale. The crew prepared 300 gallons of homemade noodle soup. Serving by way of a drive-thru began at 10:30 a.m. and by 11:55 a.m., only ten gallons remained.

The City of La Grange’s Office of Community Development & Tourism is helping to raise much needed funds for the AMEN Food Pantry. 100% of the proceeds from the official La Grange Christmas t-shirts will benefit AMEN. T-shirts can be purchased for $30 inperson at the Historic Casino Hall or orders can be placed over the phone by calling (979) 968-3017. Over the past few weeks, the AMEN Food Pantry has seen an increase in La Grange families in need of food basics and these much needed funds will help to ensure the food bank will be able to provide meal staples during the holiday season.

Camp Lone Star will host their “Fall Blast” retreat for third through fifth graders over the weekend of Nov. 6 through 8. This year’s theme is “By Faith.” Participants will enjoy a weekend of camp activities, skits, songs and Bible Study sessions. Cost is $105/youth and $51/ adult (you will need to provide a chaperone). A really good deal on a bunch of technology highlighted the La Grange Independent School District board of trustees monthly meeting Monday. Here’s some of what was discussed: Operation Connectivity La Grange ISD will be able to purchase 200 laptop computers and 100 hotspots through a joint effort among Governor Abbott and the Texas Education Agency to help connect public school students with a device and reliable internet connections.
