Camp Lone Star Hosting Fall Blast Retreat
Camp Lone Star will host their “Fall Blast” retreat for third through fifth graders over the weekend of Nov. 6 through 8. This year’s theme is “By Faith.” Participants will enjoy a weekend of camp activities, skits, songs and Bible Study sessions. Cost is $105/youth and $51/ adult (you will need to provide a chaperone). Pork Steak Fundraiser
The pork steak dinner benefit/fundraiser for Amy Wagner is Sunday, Nov. 15. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the church office or from Rhonda Hentschel at (979) 250-3437 or Sherry Schramm at (979) 540-8897. You can also purchase tickets at the La Grange Chevron. The deadline to purchase meal tickets is Thursday, Nov. 5. Drive-through pick up will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. The Ladies Aid of Holy Cross will also have a dessert table offering whole desserts for a free-will donation. All of the proceeds go to Amy’s fund to help pay medical expenses. If you’d like to bake something to donate, it would be appreciated. Baked goods can be brought by the dessert table on Sunday morning before church. Couples Club Fundraiser
The Couples Club will have their BBQ chicken fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 22. Chickens are $9 each and 16-oz. cups of sauce are $2 each. Drivethrough pick up will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. Advance orders only. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex of the church or call the church office at (979) 242-3333. You can also order from the La Grange Chevron at (979) 968-5032, Danny Jurk at (979) 242-3484 or Dennis Pietsch at (979) 542-1141. Pay when you pick up. The deadline to order is Monday, Nov. 16.
Rabbs Creek Wildlife
Rabbs Creek Wildlife has cancelled their fall meeting due to COVID-19. The spring meeting has been tentatively set for Sunday, Feb. 21.
The wildlife association will have a deer contest, same as every other year, and will pay top three in big buck and top three in spike. Mike Tabbert will be scoring and all deer need to be scored prior to the spring meeting. Mike can be contacted at (979) 966-9053.
Holy Cross Ladies Aid
The ladies at Holy Cross are continuing to collect items for the personal care kits, which they will assemble at their Nov. 3 meeting. Everyone is encouraged to assist by donating the following items: individuallywrapped bars of soap (8-9 oz.), lightweight bath-sized towels (20”x40” to 52”x27”, dark colors are recommended) and combs. There is a basket in the hallway of the narthex for you to drop off these items, and each item is greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate money to the shipping fund, please make a check out to Ladies Aid and place LWR Shipping Fund on the note line. Donations can be dropped off at the church office.
AMEN Food Pantry
Holy Cross continues to be a drop-off point for AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange. You can drop off nonperishable food items in the designated basket in the hallway at your convenience.
Aluminum Cans
There is a large wire collection bin at the picnic grounds for you to drop off your aluminum cans. The funds benefit the Trail Life 143 of Giddings.
Recycle Trailer
Recycling is collected at the Warda Self Storage facility. A trailer with designated bins is there for your convenience.
Stamps
The ladies at Holy Cross collect cancelled postage stamps. The stamps are sold in bulk to collectors. If you have any stamps, they can be dropped off in a collection box in the hallway of the church.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follow the morning service.
Reformation will be observed next Sunday, Oct. 25.
Midweek communion service is held the first Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m.

Faith Lutheran High School
Classes at FLHS are in session. Everyone is welcome to join their weekly Chapel Worship service held every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. You can also follow them on Facebook or check out what’s happening at faithlutheranhighschool.com.
FLHS will be hosting the 2nd Annual Private Schools of Central Texas Cross Country Meet on Friday, Oct. 30, for students in kindergarten through grade 8. The first race will begin at 2 p.m.
The faculty and staff are anxiously preparing for their accreditation visit from Nov. 8 through 10. This visit was delayed this spring due to COVID-19, but they are excited to walk through this process as the ministry at FLHS continues to grow.
