The Schulenburg/Weimar Area Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program is currently holding a “Make an Imprint” donation drive this year to take the place of the annual “Weekend in the Country” fundraiser.

Giddings Times & News • A resolution was approved by the Giddings Board of Trustees to provide a one-time, $500 stipend to each full-time, contractual instructional staff member who provides both in-person and remote instruction or educational services to students. The employees eligible to receive payment are teachers, counselors, nurses, librarians, social workers, diagnosticians, occupational therapists, and speech/ language pathologists.

The first meeting of the newly-formed City of Ellinger is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21. The meeting will be held at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Dining Hall at 6 p.m. An agenda will be posted in the Post Office on Dec. 14 after 3 p.m.

Kaleb Samuel Kuskie was born on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1:06 p.m. to Kyle and Stacey Kovar Kuskie of Richmond. He weighed six pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. His grandparents are Erwin and Betty Kovar of Fayetteville and Kendall and Mary Jo Kuskie of Denton. Great-grandmothers are Ellen Vasek of Columbus and Darlene Kuskie of Grant, Nebraska.

On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the La Grange Fire Department dedicated their new engine for service to the community. La Grange Fire Department is a volunteer organization with 32 active firefighters serving the City of La Grange and parts of Fayette County.

The Flatonia City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to purchase 1.37 acres of property along US Highway 90 on the east side of town. The property will be used to connect two City Parks – McWhirter Park and 7 Acre Park.

La Grange Police are looking for two vehicles that were reportedly drag racing in town Sunday afternoon. According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Officer Mitchell Maxwell responded to a call reporting two vehicles racing on South Main Street around 1:45 p.m.

A La Grange man refused to leave the room he was renting after the homeowner kicked him out, so police took him to jail instead. According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, a resident called police just before 9 a.m.
