LG Fire Department Dedicates Their New Engine To Service

On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the La Grange Fire Department dedicated their new engine for service to the community. La Grange Fire Department is a volunteer organization with 32 active firefighters serving the City of La Grange and parts of Fayette County.

The new engine will be able to carry five firefighters and their equipment. One of the highlights of the new equipment is a battery powered rescue combination spreader cutter tool. The new rescue tool was purchased from Holmatro. The new rescue tools are no longer tethered to hydraulic hoses and allow the firefighters to bring this life saving equipment into narrow and difficult spaces. They are also part of the purchase price of over $650,684. The acquisition was made possible by a 50% cost share with the City of La Grange, donations from the general public, the .02 cents per 100.00 property valuation as well as a bequest that the Department received from the estate of Ms. Norma Webb who was a great supporter of our local fire service. Her husband Stanley Webb was a member of the Department in the 1970s and 1980s serving in various functions including the position of Fire Chief.

The members of the Department gathered on Tuesday and dedicated the new Engine 1 for service under the leadership of Chaplain J. Paul Bruhn. Training Officer Captain Glen Knigge is shown explaining the cab of the new engine to members of the Department.
