Taste of Winchester Honors Top Cooks

The Taste of Winchester was held on Saturday, Jan. 31 with the following cooks recognized for their tasty dishes. Winners in the appetizer categories were Evelyn Parker, Tom Atkins, and Liz Wallace. Winners in the salad category were Brett Pounds, Kayden Gooch and Marceil Prestridge. Rhoda Gersch, Billy Karisch and Kaydin Gooch were winners in the main dish category and Kaydin Gooch, Tom Atkins and Michele Weth winners in the dessert category. Kaydin Gooch was named the Master Chef, winning in 2024 and repeating this year.

A 60-year-old man died in a workplace accident at the Contech Engineered Solutions plant in Schulenburg on Monday. Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said the man died when a 5,000 lb.

LG Chamber Holds Annual Awards Banquet

The La Grange Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet last week at the Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange. In addition to hearing from the county judge candidates, some awards were presented This year’s honorees were:
