La Grange High School junior Jackson Elliott has made a documentary that has advanced to the state semifinals of the UIL film competition. Elliott’s documentary that focuses on Lorenza Crosby, a longtime resident of Fayette County.

1976: Bodies Moved from Fayette Power Project Area Cemeteries

Feb. 10-13, 1976 Finding a .38 caliber bullet slug in a shattered skull and silver dollar coins on the eyes of a dead person to keep their lids shut were two of the discoveries unearthed by Coates Field Services Inc., during disinterment of bodies in a Black church cemetery located within the 8,500-acre footprint of the Fayette Power Project.

Folks driving near Walmart in La Grange Thursday afternoon may have seen a State Trooper’s patrol unit on a tow truck at the scene of a wreck. The trooper was not involved in the crash, though.

The Colorado Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas annual fundraiser is Saturday, Feb. 21. Admittance includes barbecue meal and beverages. It begins at 4 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown Street in La Grange. There will be a trade show and social hour, silent auction, raffle, live auction, and cash door prizes.
