Adult Tech Training

Round Top Family Library in partnership with Turtle Wing Foundation, presents Life and Independent Living Skills Workshop for ages 8 and up with instructors Katie Delgadillo and Stephanie Galvez, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. - noon. Students will learn fun and helpful skills they can use every day. Through games, activities, and real-life practice, students will work on things like staying organized, working with others, making good choices, and solving problems. Ledbetter Bingo
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held in the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for freewill donation.
There’s more The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange (255 Svoboda Ln). The evening begins with Beekeeping 101 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. a session ideal for beginners or anyone interested in getting started with honey bees. At 5:30 p.m. members and guests will enjoy a potluck dinner please bring a favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. Following dinner, the club will conduct its regular business meeting and then welcome this month’s guest speaker, Kyle Cosby, a fourth-generation beekeeper and organic farmer who teaches beekeeping classes and assists beekeepers with best practices and hive maintenance. His presentation will focus on organic mite treatment strategies for maintaining strong, thriving hives. Annual membership is $25 per individual or family, and guests are always welcome. FaycoBeeks meets on the first Saturday of each month (except July). Join to ask questions, share experiences, and connect with beekeepers from around the region. Lions Sealy Dance Club
The Lions Sealy Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St. in Sealy. The band, Scott Wilkinson & Ez Country, will be providing live music from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The public is always welcome.
Fayette Water Supply Corp. Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Feb. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Retired Teachers Assoc. Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, Feb. 9 at the New Life Methodist Church, 1215 Von Minden Road in La Grange, at 1:45 p.m. Guest speaker will be Sergeant Detective Angela Lala of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, speaking about the prevention of cybercrime and identity theft. All retired teachers and school personnel are welcome to attend.

American Legion, Auxiliary #102
TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the fairgrounds in La Grange. The meeting agenda for the Post will include discussion on the Nation’s Birthday and reviewing the Post By-Laws. New potential members for both the Post and Auxiliary are invited to attend. La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host Game Day on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society
The Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America will be meeting Thursday, Feb. 12 to hear the Unit’s Horticulture Study Group present the findings of their year-long study of lavender. Mad Hatter Galentine’s in Burton On Friday, Feb. 13, the town of Burton invites friends, funseekers, and hat lovers of all kinds to celebrate Mad Hatter Galentine’s, a whimsical, town-wide event full of charm, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. This free event kicks off at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum, where guests can grab a map of participating locations and begin their Mad Hatter adventure through historic downtown Burton. Heart Strings Cello Concert Celebrate love and artistry this Feb. 14. Fried Chicken Fundraiser
The Industry Knights of Columbus will have its annual fried chicken fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Dine in or plates to go will be available. The meal consists of hand breaded fried 1/2 chicken, homemade buttered noodles, and beans for a $15 donation. Enjoy a silent and live auction.

The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary will hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 4-6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried chicken breast, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, roll, and white gravy (on the side) for $14 a plate. Community Prayer Gathering
Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering. Texas A&M Scholarship Applications Seniors of Fayette County high schools and past graduates of the county’s schools, who are currently enrolled in a junior college or other institution of higher learning, and planning to attend Texas A&M University, are strongly encouraged to apply for the Fayette County Texas A&M Scholarship. The scholarship requires an applicant to be a resident of Fayette County, have attended high school in Fayette County, have made application to Texas A&M, and be a full-time student. Applications for the scholarship can be obtained in the high school counselor’s office. Applications must be completed and turned into their counselor or mailed no later than March 1.
