Weimar City Manager Resigns After Charges Come to Light

Weimar City Council accepted the resignation of City Manager Donald Dixson at an emergency meeting on Monday, Nov. 17. Weimar Mayor Carlton Tucker said the City recently learned that Dixson has pending criminal charges from 1994 out of Pennsylvania for “indecent assault” and “corruption of minors.”

Kist By Grace Brings Christmas Praise Concert to Weimar’s Faith Lutheran

Kist By Grace, a Christian Praise and Worship band based in Orchard, Texas, will be performing a Christmas Concert on Dec. 14, Sunday , beginning at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, Weimar. The concert is open to the pubic. All are welome to attend. Following the concert, attendees are invited to come to Faith’s Fellowship Hall for refreshments and celebration of the season. Enjoy the Christmas decorations, great music by the band, and refreshments as we celebrate the Christ of Christmas.

Adams Shines on CBS Show, But is Eliminated Sunday

In an emotional Episode 5 of CBS’s country music reality show “The Road” Sunday Fayette County’s Briana Adams was eliminated, but not before she again wowed audiences and made everyone here proud. Adams, of Winchester, survived several eliminations in the show of 12 up-and-coming musicians, who were vying for a $250,000 music contract. Eight contestants are left. The show continues Sundays on CBS.

ELCA Bishop Briner Visits Local Congregations for Nov. 23 Worship and Thanksgiving Meal

The Rev. Susan J. Briner, Bishop of the ELCA Southwestern Texas Synod, will be guest preacher at communion services on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, County Road 146, Sublime off Highway 90-A (8 a.m.) and Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, Weimar (10 a.m.). These two congregations are partner churches with three other congregations in the shared ministry (TCCM) serving Colorado, Fayette and Lavaca Counties. Pastor Herb Beyer, Lead Pastor for the Tri-County Cooperative Ministries ELCA, will preside at both services. Bishop Briner will also be present at Annual Meal of Thanksgiving following the worship at Faith Lutheran Church. Members at Faith will be bringing the usual Thanksgiving types of food for the annual event— turkey, ham, dressing, side dishes, and desserts.

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-18 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 19 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 26 between 4 to 6 p.m.

More Seeking Lower Speed Limits on Their County Roads

More and more rural residents are petitioning the Commissioners Court to establish speed limits on county roads. At their meeting last Thursday, the Court set the date for public hearings concerning speed limits on Ross Prairie Church Rd., Brushy Rd., Klatt Rd.
