Christopher Mitchell of Schulenburg, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Mitchell was initiated at University of Houston-Victoria.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County will conduct a food preservation workshop on Thursday, May 13, in room 104 at the Fayette County Ag Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. The educational program is called “Food Preservation in the 21st Century,” which includes up-to-date techniques for both pressure and hot water bath canning.

La Grange Chief of Police David Gilbreath reports that on Sunday, April 11 at 2 a.m. La Grange Police responded to a one-vehicle accident at Von Minden and Franklin.

Team Winchester will again be participating in the Bike MS: Texas MS 150 on May 1. This year the ride is a one-day event with varying riding distances from 70-100 miles based on the starting points used.

Every year, Schulenburg High School students are given opportunities to speak with recruiters from each military branch as they make decisions for their post-secondary career. All students are encouraged to explore colleges, junior colleges, trade schools, and military branches throughout their high school years to make plans for after graduation. Jayson and Tammy Ussery of Hobbs, NM, along with Donna Mulholland of Cistern and Red Mulholland of Engle, announce the upcoming marriage of their children, Shyanne Faylee and Zane Matthew. The wedding will take place on May 8 at the Horseshoe Knot Event Center in Lubbock.
