AgriLife Extension Office to Hold Food Preservation Workshop May 13

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County will conduct a food preservation workshop on Thursday, May 13, in room 104 at the Fayette County Ag Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange.

The educational program is called “Food Preservation in the 21st Century,” which includes up-to-date techniques for both pressure and hot water bath canning.

The all-day session includes an educational program and hands-on activities where participants will pressure can a product and hot water bath a can of salsa. Each participant will leave with two preserved products, “So Easy to Preserve” resource book, and a class binder with recipes, resources, and tips.

The cost of the class is $75 for the all-day session (lunch is included). The class will be limited to the first 15 individuals to register and pay. Health protocols will be in place for the class. The workshop is open to adults and youth, who are 8 years of age and up. The deadline to register is May 7.
