A Lehmann’s April Household Tips

A Lehmann’s April Household Tips

• If you have those pretty stainless-steel sinks and it gets all spotty…just put some plain rubbing alcohol on a soft rag and give the sink a good polish. The alcohol cleans off all of the water spots and makes the sink shiny and new looking.

• If you are like me and have stacks of pictures of my family members who are long gone, as well as boxes of pictures of my child as he was growing up… you probably have a problem like I used to have. Sort the pictures into manilla envelopes and mark each one. It took time but it worked.

This month’s recipe comes from Nancy Pietsch, who says: “I was born and raised in La Grange. After graduating from LHS, I attended and graduated from Blinn Junior College and then Southwest Texas State University with a Secondary Education degree. I first taught at Columbus Junior High School for 3 years. Then I taught at LHS for 15 years. I got married and taught at Round Top-Carmine for my last 12 years. I enjoy being with family and friends as much as possible.

SAUSAGE BREAD

1 Pound Sage flavor Jimmy Dean pork sausage (I use regular flavor. Sometimes I use 1/3 hot to 2/3 regular.)

1 onion (I use about ¼ of one.)

1 green pepper (I use about ¼ of one.)

1 cup sliced mushrooms (I use more and chop them.)

1 cup mozzarella cheese (I buy the grated cheese and use more, about 1 ½ cups.)

1 cup cheddar cheese (I use mild, not sharp, grated and more, about 1 ½ cups.)

1 egg beaten

1 loaf frozen bread dough (I use Rhodes.)

Fry the sausage with the onions, green pepper, and mushrooms. Drain the fat. (I usually fry this, cool it down and put it in a Ziploc Bag the night before.)

(I measure the cheese together in another Ziploc Bag, OR just layer half of the cheddar then mozzarella.)

Let one loaf of frozen bread dough thaw and rise to about double in size. (I usually let it sit out overnight and roll it out in the morning.)

Roll out the bread on a slightly floured surface and floured rolling pin. Layer one layer meat, one layer cheese and repeat. Fold the bread over and pinch it together. Fold over the ends and pinch it together.

Placed on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with a beaten egg. (This helps make it brown.)

Bake at 375 degrees for about 20 – 25 minutes until brown.
