Two people suffered injuries in a wreck on TX 71 near West Point Friday afternoon. The wreck happened around 2:30 p.m.

Fayette County Fair President Michael Zuhn said that a day doesn’t go by without someone asking him if the fair is going to happen this Labor Day Weekend. “They are so happy when I answer them,” Zuhn said.

Fayette County Commissioners approved a proposal from the County Elections Office to close the voting precincts in West Point and Willow Springs. West Point voters will now vote in Plum.

Bryn Stryk of Schulenburg was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Stryk was initiated at Texas A&M University- Commerce.

The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department has scheduled its Annual Feast and Fundraiser for Sunday, April 25. The event will take place at the Ellinger Community Center. There will be a drive thru BBQ lunch. There will be limited seating available inside the hall for dining. Firemen and community members will be preparing barbeque chicken, sausage, and all the trimmings. Plates will cost $12, and may be picked up starting at 10:30 a.m. You may also purchase BBQ chicken at the pits for $9 per chicken. Additionally there will be a live auction beginning at 1:30 p.m. under the outdoor pavilion. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase new firefighting equipment.

The Fayette County Grand Jury handed down 11 felony indictments on March 18. An indictment is not a finding of guilt.
