Porsche Slams into Tree on Wet Road

Two people suffered injuries in a wreck on TX 71 near West Point Friday afternoon.

The wreck happened around 2:30 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway about a half mile west of Prairie Valley Road. The vehicle was a black Porsche Panamera.

Rain was falling at the time, and roadway conditions were wet. The vehicle went off the road to the right and struck a mailbox and an oak tree. The Porsche sustained heavy damage.

Fayette County EMS transported the driver and passenger to St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange for treatment.

Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash, but a report was not available in time for this publication. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Bohlmann assisted at the scene, along with La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee.

Another wreck happened about 45 minutes later on TX 71 near the bridge across Old Plum Highway. Details about that crash were not available in time for publication.
