This year the association will be offering$1,000 scholarship to a person enrolled or enrolling in an institute of higher learning for careers in the professions of nursing, teaching, criminology/ peace officer, fire sciences, dental, radiology/imaging or EMT certification/paramedic degree.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is honored to have Peggy Kusy as the 2021 Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton Award recipient. She was a teacher at St. Rose for 20 years and then principal for five. Peggy is an alumni, graduated from Bishop Forest High School, and all four of her children graduated from St. Rose School and three grandchildren are currently attending. She and her husband annually donate plastic megaphones, cups, frisbees, etc. for the students from their business Prime Products. Her volunteerism includes substitute teaching, working and supporting fundraiser events over the years, days at the food pantry and meals on wheels. Peggy is active in the parish as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Catholic Daughters Secretary, at Altar Society dinners, and with her husband working at KC events. We thank Peggy for her numerous years of service and support to St. Rose School and Catholic education.

ArtWalk in Fayetteville will return after the pandemic prevented it from being held in 2020. ArtWalk, a fundraiser for Arts for Rural Texas, a 501(c) (3), offers a wonderful weekend of shopping, dining, wine tasting and fun for the kids.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department resonded to during the week of April 11-18. Reckless Driving On April 15, Meinardus responded to the 300 block of E.

April 23-30, 1971 Bohot-Todd, Inc. was offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a vandal or vandals who shot out headlights and windshields on cars parked on the company’s back lot.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday afternoon around 4:47 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a truck on fire on Bittner Rd. near FM 2237 near Muldoon. The Muldoon Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene with Deputy Joe Gonzales. Upon arrival it was reported a Chevrolet pickup truck was fully engulfed. The pickup was pulling a low boy trailer. The Muldoon Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene. The fire had spread to the grass and was quickly extinguished. The driver reported smoke coming in the cab of the pickup vehicle when he stopped the truck. The driver’s cell phone was dead so he had to find help and call 911. There were no reported injuries and the truck was a total loss. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical or mechanical failure.

With the support of several local Lions Clubs, and the youth LEO club, a Strides for Diabetes event was held Saturday at White Rock Park in the La Grange. The goal of the event was to promote awareness of diabetes and the importance of regular exercise.
