Phillip and Mayra Wagner welcomed the birth of their son, Aaron Domingo Wagner, on Monday, April 12. Excited to welcome Aaron home are his big brothers, Sebastian and Benjamin, along with his grandparents, Richard and Courtney Wagner, and great-grandparents, Willie and Judy Wagner.

During the City Council Meeting on Wednesday, April 14, the City gave notice to submit a Texas Community Block Grant Program application for a Community Development Fund grant request of $350,000. The improvements are requested specifically for the upgrade to the existing aerobic system to ensure that the City meets the requirements of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Standard Permits for a city the size of Fayetteville. The City considered and passed a resolution authorizing the expenditure.

With the theme of “Restore Our Earth™“, Earth Day 2021 aspires to rally the people of the world to “prevent the coming disasters of climate change and environmental destruction.” However, given the events of recent history and current events, it might be prudent to reword that ambition statement to “adapt and mitigate the impacts of climate change and environmental destruction.” We are no longer in the realm of preventing; the impacts of climate change and environmental destruction are visible and tangible both globally and locally.

The American Veterans Center and Music Celebrations International have invited the Schulenburg High School Marching Shorthorn Band from Schulenburg to be an Official Representative of Texas in the nationally-televised 2022 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

CVICA announced this year’s scholarship winners. In partnership with the Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Foundation and along with the Carl L. Wendler Family, the organization will once again award $2,000 to each student in three counties; Colorado, Fayette and Lee.
