Fair Working Towards Traditional 2021 Event

Fayette County Fair President Michael Zuhn said that a day doesn’t go by without someone asking him if the fair is going to happen this Labor Day Weekend.

“They are so happy when I answer them,” Zuhn said. “We are planning on having it. We don’t know what August will bring, but we are going forward unless we are told no.”

Zuhn said a meeting he had with county officials Friday only further confirmed their support for having the fair this year.

Last year, amidst the pandemic, the fair was a shell of its normal self, with a Queen’s Pageant and BBQ cook-off but no carnival, entertainment, creative arts or parade.

Zuhn said a new carnival has been booked for this year and a new format for the Senior Citizens Day program are in the works.

Tickets sold by last year’s Queens Contestants will be good for this year’s fair.

Additionally, all the entertainment booked from last year (headlined by Joe Nichols, Josh Ward and .38 Special) have confirmed they can perform this year, but specific details will be released by the Fair in May.

“People are ready to get out and do things again. I think we could have a really big year,” Zuhn said.
