Czech Heritage Christmas Party Held

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society held its Christmas Party at TCHCC in La Grange on Dec. 19. It was a festive event with a large turnout of members and guests, who sang Czech Christmas songs, enjoyed a turkey and dressing meal with dessert cakes, played a Czech trivia game, and exchanged gifts. Fayette County resident Madelyn Karstedt, the reigning Miss Czech-Slovak U.S.2025-2026 Queen, was introduced and spoke of her experiences since being crowned. She, along with 20252026 Miss Texas Czech-Slovak Little Princess Lillie Karstedt, introduce Maelynn Wasut as a candidate for Fayette County CHS Little Princess. The next Fayette County CHS meeting and annual Soup Social is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026 at TCHCC in La Grange. The 2026 officer election will be held. La Grange Yearbook Wins 15 Best in Texas Awards

The La Grange high school Leopard Spots yearbook staff won 15 awards at this year’s Best In Texas yearbook competition, judged by the Texas Association of Journalism Educators. This is the most awards the yearbook staff have received so far, in their eight years of submitting entries, and competed against 1,600 entries from schools all over the state.

A Charlie Brown Christmas Locally – on Stage and in Window Art

Two very different, but both beautiful, odes to the famous holiday classic “Merry Christmas Charlie Brown” were on display in La Grange. Above, the La Grange 6th Grade Theater class at La Grange Elementary put on three performances of their Charlie Brown Christmas play last week at the school’s auditorium as part of the elementary Christmas programs that included musical performances by the other grades. They were under the direction of Mrs. Erin Oppermann.

Winchester Women Spread Holiday Cheer with Stocking Drive for CCA

W The last Winchester Women’s Luncheon was held this last week, and invited guests were Kelly Franke and Brittany Hendrix of Combined Community Action, Inc. The Winchester women had taken on a project to assist CCA with stockings for the Christmas baskets that CCA deliver during the holidays.
