4th of July Celebration Everyone is invited to come out to Muldoon on Saturday, July 2 to celebrate our nation’s birthday a little early. The 4th of July celebration will go on early, so to give families a chance to come out has some fun.

Carmine VFD Carmine Volunteer Fire Department reminds the public that a burn ban is in effect for Fayette County. With hot days and no rain, this means no burning.

FAYETTE COUNTY ADOPTABLE Tyson is a 4-year-old Boxer/American Bulldog mix and Maya is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix. They came to us because their owner could no longer care for them.

A July 4th celebration will be held on Saturday July 2nd at the Muldoon Community Park. The parade will start at 9:30 a.m.

In honor of National PAT Day, Schulenburg-Weimar Parents as Teachers (PAT) recently sponsored an art contest for students Pre-K through 5th Grades. The theme for the contest was “parents are their child’s first and most influential teachers”. Students were asked to create a picture of themselves and the grown up(s) in their lives doing something special together.

Feed the Need has continued to be present in the La Grange community every Monday on the square of the Fayette County Courthouse serving people both physically and spiritually. A recent Monday we enjoyed partnering with Chick-Fil-A for a little something different to eat. Chick-Fil-A graciously came with their new 32 ft. food truck and cooked hot/fresh chicken sandwiches for us to serve – 311 of them to be exact, and all free.

Camp Invention, a longrunning STEM day camp, made a return for its 11th year in La Grange. Nearly 120 kids from all over the area were in attendance, with even more on a waiting list. This year was the second year in which Camp Invention was at the new elementary school building. In years past, the camp has been at various locations across the La Grange ISD campus, making its start in what was the fourth grade building and is now the technology and student services building.

On Tuesday, June 14, the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) administered a $5,000 designated grant to a local nonprofit, AMEN Food Pantry. With prices increasing everywhere, this Donor Advised Grant was designated to AMEN Food Pantry to assist local community members to alleviate some of the burdens of food insecurity.

Lake Fayette is under an extreme fire ban as of June 17. For the safety of their guests and the parks, no open flames are allowed at this time. This includes BBQ and propane grills and campfires. They apologize for any inconvenience.

The parents of Vicente Cabrera are proud to announce that after a year of college he felt the call to follow his father into the fire service. Cabrera is a Fayette County resident and 2020 Weimar High School graduate. The Houston Fire Department Academy class started with 75 cadets and graduated 47 on Thursday, May 12, with Cabrera ranking No. 8.
