Parents as Teachers Art Winners Announced
In honor of National PAT Day, Schulenburg-Weimar Parents as Teachers (PAT) recently sponsored an art contest for students Pre-K through 5th Grades. The theme for the contest was “parents are their child’s first and most influential teachers”. Students were asked to create a picture of themselves and the grown up(s) in their lives doing something special together.
PAT would like parents to remember that the years leading up to a child’s first school experience are years when a child learns more and faster than any other time in their lives. Parents help shape their child’s future with the kinds of experiences they give them.
Art teachers and classroom teachers from Schulenburg and Weimar and new Parent Educator, Karen Hoskins helped to promote the contest to schools and students. Fayetteville’s Arts For Rural Texas judged the contest. First, second and third place winners from each school were chosen. Top winners for each grade level received a $25 gift cards. Overall winners were Pre K Reagen Renner-WES, Kinder. Amree Kohleffel -SES, 1st Brody Brossmann-SRCS, 2nd Cate Hooper-SRCS, 3rd Briley Hartenstiner-SRCS, 4th Arely Cortez-SES, 5th Layne Schmicek-SMCS
