Updates on Muldoon July Celebration, Mailbox Mystery
4th of July Celebration
Everyone is invited to come out to Muldoon on Saturday, July 2 to celebrate our nation’s birthday a little early. The 4th of July celebration will go on early, so to give families a chance to come out has some fun.
There will be a parade to participate in, if you are feeling like showing off your red, white and blue. You can walk, ride, drive or just motivate along the route that will start at the Baptist Church and loop through the park. This allows the participants to see all the others in the parade. Parade line up begins at 9 a.m. The parade will begin at 9:30 am. You can just show up and be in the parade or line up along the route that goes out to the Muldoon Mercantile, turns south on FM 154 to go in front of the Muldoon Museum and then through the park. Find a spot and wave at those who are in the parade.
Following the parade there will be an auction in the park of donated goods to raise funds to help with the upkeep and much needed maintenance of the park facility. If you would like to donate something be sure and drop it off prior to the parade, so everyone can see what is going to be bid on. There also will be a few items sold that will benefit the Muldoon Museum and their ongoing efforts to preserve Muldoon’s history.
When the auction is finished then lunch will begin. The fire department will be providing pulled pork sandwiches for a free will donation till they run out and everyone is asked to bring a large side dish and/or dessert to share. Plates, napkins, eating utensils and napkins will be provided.
Mailbox Update
It seems that one of the mailboxes that was torn up and stolen was “returned.” It was found thrown in the driveway days after being torn out of the ground and disappearing. The box was highly damaged and still attached to the post that had been broken off.
Please be aware of the situations around you. If you see anything off or odd happening in the area make detailed notes and call the law. We have to be aggressive in watching out for each other. Call and check on your neighbors. Let them know if you see something out of the ordinary going on.
Out and About
Kathy and Frank Chlumsky slipped away recently to attend their grandson, Connor Dong’s jujitsu competition in Houston. They were so proud when Connor took first place in the boys 9-10 year old division in Gracie Barra meet.
Jennifer and Clay Rightmer enjoyed a visit from Jennifer’s brother and sister in law, Wade and Karen Howard from Canada and their daughter Georgia. Also coming in for a quick visit were Will and Marilyn Howard of Horseshoe Bay and Lane Rightmer of Waco. Billie and Harold Rightmer came over from Schulenburg to enjoy all the visitors. Georgia even got to spend the night with her Aunt Jen and Uncle Clay while her parents slipped off for “date time”.
Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak were happy to have family come to visit. Beth, Jack and Erica Field slipped in from Magnolia, along with Jeremy Wells and son Dylan from Pflugerville. Devon’s granddaughter and her husband Ruth and Dan Cruz came in to visit all the way from Lubbock. The family had a great time visiting, fishing and just running around the ranch getting a little bit of stuff done.
