Fayette County’s Four State Track Qualifiers

The state track meet is this week at the University of Texas at Austin. La Grange’s Macie Collier competes Thursday night. The three Fayetteville qualifiers compete Saturday. Here’s more about each qualifier:
La Grange’s Macie Collier qualified for the 4A state meet in the 300 hurdles. She is the school record holder in the event and the fourth fastest qualifier at state in 4A. She is a junior but shown here the last time she qualified for state when she was a freshman.

Baseball Playoffs: Leps Fall, But RTC,

The La Grange baseball team saw its season come to an end in an Area Round playoff sweep at the hands of Salado (25-9) last week. The Leps lost 15-1 in Game 1 and 9-3 in Game 2.

Hoops Star Sodek Awarded One of TWU’s Top Academic Scholarships

Flatonia High School senior Summer Sodek was awarded one of Texas Woman’s University’s top academic scholarships during a surprise presentation at the high school on Monday, May 4. TWU’s Chancellor’s Endowed Scholarship, which covers tuition, fees and other costs for four years ― and is valued at roughly $60,000 ― is considered the university’s most coveted and among its highest valued scholarships.

Flatonia Softball Season Concludes

The Flatonia softball team lost Game 1 of its regional semifinal series against Thorndale last week 6-2, only to fight back to take Game 2 11-1. But Thorndale prevailed in the third game 10-6 to end the Lady Bulldogs’ season with a 17-8 record.

Herzik Loses in State Quarterfinals

Schulenburg junior Caden Herzik won his first round match at the state 2A tennis tournament in San Antonio last week against Joshua Morris of Omaha Pewitt 6-1, 6-3. But then Herzik lost in the state quarterfinals in three sets to Gunnar Stroud of Big Lake 3-6, 6-2, 6-3..
