Doris Louise Smith Koerth, age 85, of Shelby, peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on Aug. 10, 2026.

This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson Cynthia Sue (Fuchs) Wied was born on Dec. 7, 1954, in Brenham, one of two daughters born to Howard Fred Fuchs and Joyce Lydia (Ullrich) Fuchs. She graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School. On June 16, 1973, Cynthia was united in marriage to Roy Wied at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. She worked for many years at the Brenham Clinic in Brenham.

Frank August “Buddy” Friemel, Jr., 91, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away July 30, 2026. He was born Dec.

Rose Marie (Baca) Rohde, 89, of Fayetteville, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2026. She lived a beautiful life marked by faith, and selflessness that could brighten a room and make even the most ordinary day feel like a blessing.

Marilyn Demerson Wells of La Grange passed away peacefully in the community where her life began. A graduate of Lincoln High School (Class of 1966) and Prairie View A&M University (Class of 1973), she devoted 38 years to educating students in La Grange ISD and Smithville ISD, where her compassion and belief in every child left a lasting impact.

Loretta Ann Ulrich, known lovingly to family and friends as Granny Lu, passed away on July 23, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 18, 1955, in Weimar, and lived a life marked by love, faith, kindness, and devotion to those around her.

Bernice Kolar Condon was born to Joseph Thomas and Frances Vyvjala Kolar, Feb. 20, 1922 in the family home. The doctor pronounced her dead. The nurse covered her, but noticed her finger was moving. She lived to be 98. She died Dec. 30, 2020 in Houston.

A memorial service for Robert Carney, 77 of Ledbetter, was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Lee Pierce and Dixie Morene Pierce, and her brothers, Alvon “Boe” Pierce and Kenneth Pierce. She is survived by her children, Darlene Strahan and her husband, Lynn; Sharlene Bohr; Susan Iglinski; Sonja Guenter; and Jason Lewallen and his wife, Poncie; her grandchildren, Lindsey Hahn, McKenna Lewallen, Jade Lewallen, David Lewallen, Payton Guenter, Jana Mehl, Jeremy Strahan, and Gina Bohr; and eight great-grandchildren.
