Carmine Night Out will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at the fire station beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony conducted the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338. The RT-C 4-H will participate in the ceremony including leading the pledge.

The meeting of the KJZT St. Anne’s Society No. 10 was called to order at 1 p.m. on Aug. 24 at St. John’s Recreation Hall. President Mary Jane Toddy opened the meeting with prayers for all living members and their families and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Parents as Teachers presented guest speaker Violeta Manzano, a registered dietician nutritionist, to speak on Strategies for a Picky Eater. Violeta spoke on how to help your picky eater confidently try new foods. The presentation was held on September 27, and again on September 28 for Spanish at the United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Weimar. Parents and caregivers gave positive feedback about the information learned. The following families were the lucky door prize winners of adult and child aprons, cookie cutters, and children’s knives set: Johnson, Evans, Owens, Zabala, Martinez, and Sanchez. COVID numbers, at least in terms of active cases, are looking better locally. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports an estimated 102 active cases in Fayette County as of Sunday. That’s down from 233 active cases three weeks ago. The number of positives cases in school is trending better too. La Grange ISD reported five student positives and one staff case last week. Three weeks ago, LGISD had 28 active cases in a single week.
