Carmine Night Out This Thursday
Carmine Night Out will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at the fire station beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony conducted the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338. The RT-C 4-H will participate in the ceremony including leading the pledge.
If anyone has US, Texas, or military flags that need retiring, there is a depository tub inside Village Market.
Local dignitaries will give talks and be available for questions from the public.
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is supplying free hot dogs, dessert, door prizes, and children’s activities. The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department is supplying the drinks.
Burn Ban in Effect
A burn ban is in effect for Fayette County. This means no burning of any kind. The grass is very dry due to a lack of rain. The flag is up at the fire station.
Baptism
Marlee Marie Leonhardt, daughter of Breanna and Zakary Leonhardt was baptized Sept. 25 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Tinker. Her sponsors are Rodney Leonhardt, Jr., Jeremy Leonhardt, and Brock Marburger.
RTC ISD News
Round Top-Carmine High School Jr. High A team, JV, and varsity host Somerville on Oct. 5 with the first game beginning at 4:30 p.m. Varsity plays at Dime Box on Oct. 8 at 5 p.m.
Oct. 11 is a student holiday and inservice day for staff.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival of Martin Luther Lutheran Church is Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Carmine Hall-Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, 300 N Hauptstrasse, Carmine, TX 78932. The worship service will be at 9:30 a.m. with country style songs led by the Praise Team.
There will be a pork steak dinner and a drawing. Meal tickets are $12 per plate. Call the church office at (979) 278-3388 for tickets.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family of David Dodd, who passed away on Septt. 6. A memorial remembrance was held Oct. 2 at PawPaw’s Firehouse.
Personal Care Kits
The MLLC Women of the ELCA are collecting Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief during the month of October. A kit includes a bath towel 52x27 inches or smaller; 2 bath size bars of soap; an adult toothbrush; a sturdy comb; and a metal nail clipper.

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Confirmation class is Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion, observing the 20th Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Christian Ed and Property Committees meet after worship.
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
