Turkey & Dressing
The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will hold its annual turkey and dressing drive-thru supper on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. Tickets are $12. Drivethru only from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enter on Water St. to Milam and exit on Brown St. Meal will include homemade dressing, noodles, broccoli with cheese sauce, cranberry sauce, and a roll. American Legion
The monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7 will be held in conjunction with the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Night Out at the Carmine Fire Station beginning at 6 p.m. Post members, with assistance from members of the local 4H, will be conducting a flag disposal ceremony at the start of the event in accordance with procedures of the American Legion. All members of the post and the auxiliary are requested to participate in this ceremony. The next regular meeting of the post and auxiliary at their facility will occur on Nov. 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend.
Hermann Sons
The Hermann Sons Life Rutersville No. 152 meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The lodge will furnish barbecue chicken and members are asked to bring a side dish and a dessert.
Mobile Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food truck will be available for drive-thru distribution on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the St. John Catholic Church Hall parking lot from 10 to 11a.m. Patrons will remain in their vehicle while distribution takes place.
FYI Presents
Professor Debbie Nelson-Campbell will be at the Round Top Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 7. Debbie will regale guests with stories about the magic and mystique of Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy, France. According to tradition, Saint Aubert, bishop of Avranches, built an oratory in 709 on top of a mount at the command of the Archangel Michael. Now called Mont Saint-Michel, the site was a famous pilgrimage center in the Middle Ages and today is one of France’s most celebrated tourist sites. Round Top Family Library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top. This is a free program. Masks are encouraged.
Wreath Making Workshop
Instructor Cathy Gau will lead you in a hands-on class to create a Fall or Christmas wreath on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Class size is limited, maximum 10 people. Call or email the library if you would like to sign up at info@ilovetoread.org or call (979) 249- 2700. The library will provide the wreath frame and basic supplies. Each participant will provide ribbons and items to personalize their wreath. After registering, Cathy will contact each participant to help them decide what they will need to bring. Refreshments served and this is an adult class ages 18 and up.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link $6 drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Okoberfest In New Ulm
The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce along with the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will join forces for the New Ulm Oktoberfest at the New Ulm Fireman’s Park on Saturday, Oct. 9. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will be offering bratwurst and sauerkraut for purchase. Activities for the kids and live music. Second Saturday on the Square
The Second Saturday on the Square will be held Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy kick ball, lazer tag, cotton candy andn music. Order food from local restaurants and food trucks. Vendors are welcome.
Roast Beef & Sausage Dinner
St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger will have a roast beef and sausage dinner with sides and dessert Sunday, Oct. 10. Drive thru only plates are $12. Pick up begins at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Limited tickets will be available at the drive thru. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Lucille Koehl at (979) 966-7710, Sharon Fritsch at (979) 966-3515 or Gladys Koehl at (979) 966-7951 or any member of St. John Ellinger Church. The meal is being catered by Peters BBQ.
Chicken Fry Fundraiser
Bethlehem Lutheran Church has served up delicious fried chicken with all the fixings for the community. Join them Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Round Top Rifle Hall for a fun day with great food and fellowship. The day begins at 10 a.m. with an outdoor Worship Service featuring Polka music. After the service, starting at 11 a.m. a fried chicken dinner with noodles and green beans will be served for eat-in, take out, or drive-thru. Serving will continue until 12:30 p.m. or when the fried chicken runs out. A sweets table will provide lots of choices for dessert. The fun continues with the announcement of the winners in the exciting multi-prize raffle. Whole chickens will be available at the pit. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased in advance at the Round Top Mercantile Co. Walk-ins are welcome as long as the delicious food lasts. For more information, call the church at (979) 249-3686.
Plum Hermann Sons Life
Plum Hermann Sons Life will meet for their monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 11 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd, West Point. The lodge will provide the meal and dessert.
Tolman Memorial Tournament
