The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center held its annual Heritage Fest and Muziky at the Center’s Czech Village in the Fayette County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 16. Fayette County Commissioners voted unanimously to contribute $500,000 in federal grant funds to the capital improvement campaign at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.

The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, Oct. 23, as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick- Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items. Waste Management will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by 5 p.m. on Friday. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from the entire city.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of September 2021. Deputy Ben Wilson responded to Clark’s Trailer Park in reference to a disturbance.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be holding Bingo on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and refreshments and food will be sold; hamburgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and much more. Games begin at 6 p.m. There will be fifteen regular games with $100 prizes. Additionally there will be two $500 jackpot games. Being so close to Halloween, there will be a costume contest for adults and children. Come out and enjoy the games and wear your favorite Halloween costumes.

The Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association presents the Home Run Derby and BBQ Cook Off to be held at the SPJST Ballpark. This Friday, Oct. 15 the cook off opens, there’s a gun raffle and live music by the Bandits. On Saturday, Oct. 16, a home run derby will take place starting at 3 p.m. Cook off winners will be announced that afternoon along with more gun raffles.

Some City of La Grange electric customers in the area along SH 159 north of town experienced an hours-long electrical outage on Sunday, Oct. 10.

Someone swiped a bicycle on North Madison Street in La Grange last Friday and then swapped it for a different bike on Lester Street. According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Officer Mitchell Maxwell responded to two theft reports on the morning of Oct.
