Bingo Returns to Ellinger Oct. 30
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be holding Bingo on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and refreshments and food will be sold; hamburgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and much more. Games begin at 6 p.m. There will be fifteen regular games with $100 prizes. Additionally there will be two $500 jackpot games. Being so close to Halloween, there will be a costume contest for adults and children. Come out and enjoy the games and wear your favorite Halloween costumes.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge met on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. President Elaine Koehl opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. There were eight members and one guest in attendance. Minutes from the previous meeting were read. Diane Marusik made a motion to accept the minutes; seconded by Donnie Koehl and motion carried. Next the financial statement was presented. Irvan Schulmeier made a motion to accept, seconded by Norman Wied; motion passed. A letter was read inviting members to Comfort for an appreciation picnic which was held Sept. 18. Under new business, the financial audit that was due by Aug. 16 was presented and approved. Members discussed the Christmas party and election of officers for 2022. Additionally they approved membership for Omega Wied. Next Diane Marusik was recognized for having a July birthday, and Jerry Krenek for his August birthday. Diane Marusik won the attendance award of $10 and Elaine Koehl won the money pot. Meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m. by Omega Wied and Irvan Schulmeier. The Lodge enjoyed a meal and fellowship.

Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Chicken Noodle Soup and Bake Sale on Sunday, Oct. 31. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. and all the volunteers will be greeting customers in their favorite Halloween costumes. This will be a drive thru event only and signs will direct traffic by the flag poles onto the pavilion near the barbecue pit area. Soup will cost $8 per quart and $30 per gallon. Desserts and fresh chicken salad sandwiches will also be available. Zach Novak will provide musical entertainment outdoors during the event. Bring your containers and pick up some delicious homemade soup and sandwiches.
Roast Beef and Sausage Dinner
St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger, located at the corner of W. Fayette St. and Grover St., held its annual Roast Beef and Sausage Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 10. The Church constructed a drive thru lane around the back of the church for such events. There was a great turnout and the event was very successful.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services.
Burn Ban
The burn ban has been lifted for Fayette County, but residents are urged to be careful with outdoor burning.
Ellinger VFD
The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department will have a drill night on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Members will meet at 7 p.m. at the fire station.
Ellinger City Commissioners
The Ellinger City Commissioners will meet on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
