Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association Home Run Derby, Cook Off This Weekend
The Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association presents the Home Run Derby and BBQ Cook Off to be held at the SPJST Ballpark. This Friday, Oct. 15 the cook off opens, there’s a gun raffle and live music by the Bandits. On Saturday, Oct. 16, a home run derby will take place starting at 3 p.m. Cook off winners will be announced that afternoon along with more gun raffles.
Drinks, nachos, hot dogs, chili dogs and much more will be offered at the concession stand. BYOB. The top prize for the raffle is a $4,000 Visa gift card. Every 20th ticket drawn can win a $100 Visa gift card and the 150th ticket can win a $500 Visa gift card. Only 300 tickets will be sold. The cost is $100 a ticket. They’re available at Fayetteville Bank.

Lickskillet Days
The Annual Lickskillet Days event begins this Saturday night, Oct. 16, with live music at 7 p.m. The event continues on Sunday beginning with the Lickskillet parade. The Fayetteville Lions baseball team will receive their championship rings at noon. Browse the country store loaded with homemade goods, silent and live auction items, Peter’s BBQ, a bounce house, Czech dancers and singers, wine, beer and more. Members of the Fayetteville Quilting Bee at St. Paul Lutheran Church have created a classic Fayetteville item – a quilt made with t-shirts from annual Lickskillet Days in the past. The beautiful quilt displays the images used on posters and t-shirts to celebrate the traditional October festival, many of which feature drawings by local artist Pat Johnson. The quilt will be part of the live auction at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Oct. 17. The auction follows the annual parade and BBQ dinner.
Antique Shows
On Oct. 20-24 Antiques on the Square will be just off the square down the road at the SPJST hall next to the SPJST ballpark. The show will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. The Courthouse Antique Show will showcase lots of treasures in the Old Firehouse in the square and runs Oct. 20-30.
The Market at Park at 1139 Park Prairie Road will be featuring antiques, home décor and gifts. Hours are from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 14-17, 22-24 and 29-31.
Mobile Food Pantry
Look for the Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry at Waldeck Lutheran Church located at FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10-11 a.m. Drive-thru only. Someone will direct traffic. Please remain in your car and make room inside your trunks or truck beds for the prepackaged food boxes. Volunteers will load you up. All clients and volunteers are required to wear facemasks and to social distance.
