The Weimar Mercury • The Weimar ISD Board of Trustees approved a proposal by Hellas Construction for the renovation of the track and expansion of an eighth lane as well as installation of turf for the football field. The project will cost $1,351,387 and is expected to be complete in February of 2022.

The Fayette County Republican Women visited the third graders at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Schulenburg, and generously presented dictionaries to each student. The students were shown all the special features of the dictionary. Thank you to the Fayette County Republican Women “Influencing Texans through Education.”

Texas Ramp Project The Texas Ramp Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides free wheelchair ramps to lowincome older adults and people with disabilities identified by local health care providers. Ramps are built exclusively with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum and are built without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age, or gender.

Winchester Area Civic Association will hold a Trunk or Treat on the driveway of Zilss Hall in Winchester on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to join in needs to decorate the trunk of their car or the back of their truck and be on hand to give treats to the children that come out to “Trick or Treat” on Halloween.

Carmine’s National Night Out was held Oct. 7 at the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department fire station. It began with the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338 conducting a flag retirement ceremony. The RT-C 4-H led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag as part of the ceremony.

Baby Shower Kelly Evans was honored recently with a baby shower for the upcoming arrival of daughter Ellie. It was a nice little gathering of family and friends who wanted to help Kelly and get her ready for the arrival of her first daughter.

The Sages and Saints group at the First United Methodist church recently hosted Reverend Ellis and Mrs. McKenzie, who provided a program on their missionary work in China. A meal followed with fellowship. Sages and Saints is open to all mature adults. In November they will have the Christmas craft show on Nov. 13 beginning at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The December gathering will be Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist church. All mature adults are welcome for fellowship.
