Baby Shower
Kelly Evans was honored recently with a baby shower for the upcoming arrival of daughter Ellie. It was a nice little gathering of family and friends who wanted to help Kelly and get her ready for the arrival of her first daughter. There was lots of pink involved in the celebration from balloons to the silverware were all pink. The food was delicious and everyone had a wonderful time. Now it is just a waiting game to see when Ellie will make her appearance.
Kelly and Ryan Evans have one son, Jace. Grandparents Donna and Robert Evans are very excited to add another hand to the ranch.
Community Center News
The Muldoon Community Center (formally the Muldoon Methodist Church) has been talking about upcoming events. Looking forward to the Christmas season they are planning on doing a “lighting event” along with an outdoors Christmas music sing-a-long. This will be a nice gathering and a great new tradition to start following the last year of COVID restrictions. More details will be coming as they are fleshed out.
The Muldoon Community Center is also working on a fundraiser. They are working on a cookbook comprising of reciepes from Muldoon folk, current, past and ancestors. A little history of who the person is/was will be included to personalize the recipe. Those who were formally from the area, they are wanting to include where they lived and maybe if their permanent place is in one of the area cemeteries. The MCC will be collecting these bits and pieces of culinary history for a while. They are planning on compiling them into a book that will be for sale next year. This could be a great collection of the area culinary history. So dig around in your old recipe books and bring out Grandma’s favorite recipe to share. The MCC is a nonprofit organization and have not been able to do many fundraisers due to Covid messing up so many things with restrictions and such.
Hog Report
Chris Joplin is back at it trapping hogs. He has been checking traps early mornings and finding them full of hogs. He has trapped a dozen in just two days of trapping, so the hog population is slowing decreasing with Chris’ efforts.
Fall Decorations
Fall is upon us and lots of area homes are decorating. Just drive down FM 154 and you will see lots of fall decorations. There are some really creative decorations and make driving the area so much more fun and entertaining.
Bible Study
The area Ladies’ Bible Study led by Jennifer Rightmer down at Flatonia Baptist Church will be starting this Thursday Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. “Get Out of Your Head” by Jennie Allen is a study in Philippians and getting more of a mindset of a God centered thoughts. It will be a very interesting study that will have video and book components. There are always lively discussions with lots of insight into the topics along with wonderful fellowship at any of the Bible Studies Jennifer has led. All area ladies are invited to come out and enjoy a morning of worship.
Traffic
The traffic on FM 154 has become much heavier with those who are trying to get around the construction that is happening on FM 609 between FM 2237 and La Grange. Please be sure and pay attention when traveling in the area with the increase in not only cars, but large semi trucks too.
