I have been nominated as a candidate for Fayette County Farm Service Agency (FSA) committee, which serves the Flatonia, Cistern, Smithville, Muldoon, Engle and Praha areas. For the past 43 years, I have run a cow/calf/hay operation just southeast of Flatonia on East Old Hallettsville Road.

La Grange residents who suffered through unprecedented flash flooding this year won’t want to miss the next City Council meeting, scheduled for Nov. 22.

William Bernsen is a homeschooling father of six whose family is very active in the community. He and his wife, Brianne, moved to La Grange in 2004 shortly before their first child was born, falling in love with the community and vowing to plant deep roots here. Bernsen is a descendant of Anton Hoelscher, Sr., a German immigrant who settled near Frelsburg in 1851 and moved to Ross Prairie east of La Grange in 1855.
