William Bernsen Running For County Judge
William Bernsen is a homeschooling father of six whose family is very active in the community. He and his wife, Brianne, moved to La Grange in 2004 shortly before their first child was born, falling in love with the community and vowing to plant deep roots here. They moved to Plum in 2010 and are members of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Bernsen is a descendant of Anton Hoelscher, Sr., a German immigrant who settled near Frelsburg in 1851 and moved to Ross Prairie east of La Grange in 1855.
Bernsen graduated from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in geographic information systems, with an emphasis in geomatics (land surveying). He founded Absolute Geomatics (now Absolute Land Surveying) in 2002. The business has served Fayette and surrounding counties ever since, more recently building bridges for some of the country’s largest transportation companies across numerous states.
Bernsen was a founding member of the TAMU-CC GIS Academic Advising Committee, serving as vice chair, chair for ten years and continuing as a member. In 2004, he was appointed to the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveyors’ Item Writing Committee, which develops licensing exams for surveyors, serving as vice chair and chair. He continues to serve as team leader for the new committee and is considered a subject matter expert by the State.
Bernsen has participated in the Fayette County Republican Party since 2008, serving as Precinct Chair since 2012. He has served as Election Judge in Plum and West Point since 2014.
Land is the most important asset to most citizens and is foundational to government. Practicing land surveying for over 25 years has given Bernsen expertise in the history of land ownership, land law and government.
