Time and the rhythm of life are captured in the exhibition Lasting Impressions featured at ARTS at the Old Stanzel, opening on January 8 from 5-7 p.m. The artwork of five photographers is on exhibit in the show at the newly opened gallery located in the historical town of Schulenburg. Visitors are invited to discover life captured and reinvented through the lens of five photographers. In the works of Jerry Brown, Carol Lyon, Art Stokes, Vicki Wiste, and Beckey Zajicek, the ordinary is turned into the extraordinary.

On Jan. 4, Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the morning of Dec. 28, 2021 Sergeant Ryan Meagher responded to a suspicious person walking along Interstate 10 near milepost 670. The male was located and stated his vehicle ran out of gas. Further investigation resulted in Meagher learning the vehicle was reported stolen out of Houston. Arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle was that of 46-year-old Edward Powell of Richmond.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the weeks of Dec. 12-25.

Joshua Roscher graduated Cum Laude on Dec. 18 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management. He plans to use his degree in the field of Natural Resource Conservation and Management. Joshua graduated from La Grange High School in 2017 and received an Associate of Arts degree from Blinn College. He is the son of Glen and Margaret Roscher and the grandson of Audrey Huenefeld.

Scott and Ann Lyons of Muldoon, are proud to announce the graduation of their son, Corey Carson Lyons, from Texas A&M University on Dec. 18, 2021 at 9 a.m. in the Reed Arena of College Station. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science with a minor in Business, As a student, Corey was active in the Christian fraternity of Beta Upsilon Chi. He was also a Songfest chair member on the College Station, Chi Omega Philanthropy for their national philanthropy, “Make-A-Wish” Foundation and their local philanthropy, Still Creek Ranch, a place for children who need a safe place to live. Corey immediately started work with a construction company in Boerne.

Morgan Elizabeth Heine and Colton Bubela were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Weimar. Father Wayne Flagg officiated. A reception, dinner and dance with live music by Broken Alibi of Hallettsville immediately followed at the Schulenburg Hall in Schulenburg.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports an increase of calls for service and offense reports for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for the year of 2021. The Sheriff’s dispatch office handles all calls for EMS services, Fire Department Services, three police departments, as well as for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
