On Monday, Jan. 31, NVCC will welcome Sally Garrett and Jennifer Boening, from the AgriLife Extension Center in La Grange, back to continue their healthy eating program as the lunch and learn series speakers at the center. They will be presenting session three of a foursession program on healthy eating as we explore the topic of good carbs. Their program starts at noon and everyone is welcome to attend.

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a change in the start time of 7:30 p.m. previously used. The post leadership expects that an earlier start time for meetings will allow increased attendance and allow for greater engagement of current and potential members.

A total of 19 chili teams signed up with locals and visitors coming out and tasting chili at the annual Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-off family fun event. The weather was crisp and cool with beautiful blue skies.

A bit of South Africa arrived in Warda last week, when all of the animal mounts killed on a Plains Game Hunt came back from the taxidermist. In May of 2021 Ryan and Bobby Hentschel traveled for 10 days to South Africa for this hunt of a lifetime.

Amber Canik of Fayetteville has made the Dean’s List at UTSA College for health, community and policy. Students whose semester grade point average is 3.75 or higher are named to the Dean’s List, this is indeed a significant accomplishment.

Candidate Forum Fayette County Republican Party (FCRP) will be hosting Republican candidate forums for all contested races for offices in Fayette County, as well as the State HD85 candidates. The second forum will be on Saturday, Jan.

Three local fire departments responded to a fire near Muldoon on Wednesday that destroyed a shed and thousands of dollars worth of contents. Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department initially received the call around 9:27 a.m.
