Garrett Semler of Schulenburg earned a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies Magna Cum Laude from University of Maryland Global Campus. More than 8,000 students from all 50 states, four U.S. territories, and 26 countries earned UMGC degrees worldwide in fall 2021.

The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation presents their annual Small School, Big Hearts fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Happy Hour begins at 4 p.m., dinner is served from 5-6 p.m. Following dinner will be an auction, fun and dancing. Dinner tickets are $12 and include chicken, sausage and sides. The Justice of the Peace (JP) Precinct 2 Republican primary is a three-way race with Brad Neville, Victor Weishuhn and Jamie Moreau vying for the position. Join them all at the candidate debate for JPs in our precinct this Saturday, Jan. 29 from 5-9 p.m. at the Ellinger C of C Hall. It will be followed by a debate between the candidates for County Judge.

Thanks to a partnership between Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area and a Fayette County donor, some area residents will receive pet food deliveries on a monthly basis. The program, AniMeals on Wheels, will provide senior clients of Meals on Wheels with pet food once a month, pet supplies as needed, and assistance with basic veterinary care.
