Post No. 338 Monthly Meeting Scheduled for Feb. 3
The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a change in the start time of 7:30 p.m. previously used. The post leadership expects that an earlier start time for meetings will allow increased attendance and allow for greater engagement of current and potential members.
During this meeting the post will review updated financial information, discuss participation in the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation fundraiser on Feb. 5, review progress with the newly formed American Legion 19th District of Texas, and continue discussions related to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the post. Members will also review the upcoming Essay Scholarship Contest to be held at Round Top-Carmine High School in March 2022.
Thanks to the recently passed LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved In Opportunities for National Service Act), Congress expanded the current membership eligibility period to cover Dec. 7, 1941, to the present, and includes the current war campaigns. Previously, there were seven declared war periods. Now there are two, the current war period dating back to World War II and another war era covering World War I. No other restrictions to American Legion membership changed. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Burton, La Grange and Giddings area are encouraged to join Post No. 338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.
American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 meets the first Thursday of each month at their hall located at 1503 N. State Hwy. 237; Round Top, Texas 78954-5001. Meetings begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
