Devon Boehnke celebrated his eighty second birthday recently with his daughters Beth Field, April Pospisil and Dana Kulak with a dinner at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia. Devon’s granddaughter Erica Field came in on Saturday from College Station to spend a few days. Her mom, Beth Field, joined them on Sunday for a short stay out in the country. April and husband Kenneth Pospisil drove into Flatonia just for the evening to celebrate with dinner and a birthday cake. It was a fun celebration and the girls got to visit and enjoy an evening partying with their dad.

Round Top-Carmine High School baseball team will host the Alumni game on March 5 at 11 a.m. Spring Break is March 14- 18.

Fayette County EMS was given a special training opportunity, lead by Kristin Kirtland, Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at the Heart Hospital of Austin. The training took place at the EMS Office in La Grange on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary participated in the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation ‘Small Town, Big Hearts Fundraiser’ held on Feb. 5. During the event the post presented a check to the foundation in the amount of $1,500.

March 3, 1972 The new Kleiber Ford Tractor, Inc. business just west of La Grange was hit by burglars sometime Monday night.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 12:40 p.m., interdiction investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on I-10 west bound, near Flatonia for a traffic infraction. During a search, the Investigator Smith located a luggage bag and observed inside to be three boxes of toys. The boxes had an inconsistent weight for the toys that should have been in them. Smith then located several vacuum sealed bundles of US Currency, which were hidden and packaged consistent to that of drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. The monies were taken to the bank and totaled to $199,000. The driver, identified as Emundo Rendon, 64, of McAllen who was arrested and charged with Money Laundering, second degree Felony. Rendon was transported to the Dan R Beck Justice Center.

Fayette County Commissioners approved a five-year lease renewal for the Fayette County School Land in Baylor County, a 4,200-acre property held by the County for the benefit of public school students in Fayette County.

LG Bridge Club The La Grange Bridge Club will begin regular play the first and third Wednesday of each month starting Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club.

Fayette County Commissioners spent a large portion of their meeting last Thursday discussing a proposed resort development between Round Top and Carmine that would include Christmas market and as many as 100 duplexes for nightly rental.
