Church picnic season is in full swing in Fayette County. A big crowd enjoyed the fried chicken and homemade sausage at the Plum Feast the past Sunday at Sts.

After a two-year haitus because of COVID, the Fashion Fling benefitting Hospice Brazos Valley returned Saturday to Round Top, this time in a new venue, The Compound. Donors buy tables and they decorate them very lavishly to enjoy a catered lunch with their friends. The event culminates with a fashion show in which local models showcase resale purchases from either Second Chance Emporium in La Grange or the Brenham Hospice Boutique resale shop. After each model was announced their clothes were described and then the total cost of the clothes was announced, with each outfit costing usually just a few dollars. The month of June has gone by in a blur. The Center is planning an outing in early July to Flatonia for lunch and a movie at the Lyric.

A Memorial Benefit Meal for the Curtis Zwahr family will take place on Saturday, July 9, at the KC Hall in La Grange. Tickets are $15.

AMEN Schedule The AMEN Food Pantry will be closed Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day and will open Tuesday, July 5 at 9 a.m. for food distribution.

Discharging fireworks is banned in all of the incorporated cities of Fayette County. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath wished to inform citizens that his officers will enforce the ban within La Grange during the July 4 holiday.

The building that housed Abbieland Antiques on Hwy. 237 between Warrenton and Round Top caught fire early Tuesday morning, June 28.

The members of the Round Top Rifle Association will present the 172nd annual July 4th Parade and Celebration on Monday, July 4. According to the Rifle Association, the first celebration took place 1851, and the parade and festivities have been ongoing without pause ever since, even through the dark days of the American Civil War.

The cool front that blew through Fayette County Monday evening brought some muchneeded rainfall to much of the area. LCRA’s rain gauge on the Colorado River above La Grange recorded 2.46 inches of rain on Monday.
