Sydney Fritsch of La Grange was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Fritsch was initiated at Texas A&M University.

Several Fayette County 4-H and Jr. FFA teams competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Food Challenge Contest on Tuesday, March 15.

Numerous Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Rodeo Austin Livestock Judging Contest on March 23. The Fayette County Junior Team #2 placed 14th overall and 4th overall in cattle out of 60 teams. Team members consisted of Kaisley Janecka, Rheagan Karisch, Paige Carruthers, and Crockett Guenther. The Fayette County Junior Team #3 placed 32nd overall. Team members consisted of Addison Berckenhoff, Alexis Berckenhoff, and Julia Melton. The Fayette County Junior Team #4 placed 37th overall. Team members consisted of Abraham McBride, Quinn Arnett, and Adalyn Carrales. Kaelan Freytag judged as an individual in the senior division. The Fayette County 4-H Livestock Judging Team is coached by JoJo and Kaci Carrales. April 25-28, 1972 The Fayette County Fair Association announced it would make a concerted effort to book out-oftown, professional acts for every day of the 1972 four-day exposition. Directors discussed initial phases of an overall five-year improvement program to include a new entrance to the fairgrounds, new ticket booths and new thoroughfares.

The Fayette County Record took home several of the biggest awards at the 96th annual South Texas Press Association’s Newspaper Contest over the weekend. The awards were announced Friday in Corpus Christi and were for journalism work done in 2021.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday around noon, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers received a 911 call from the T-Mobile store near Walmart in La Grange in reference to an individual that entered the store grabbed two cell phones and ran out.
