The building that housed Abbieland Antiques on Hwy. 237 between Warrenton and Round Top caught fire early Tuesday morning, June 28.

Round Top-Warrenton Fire Chief Frankie Srubar said a passerby called 911 to report the structure fire around 5:31 a.m. Srubar said he immediately called for aid from Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Departments. Five fire trucks and 17 personnel from the two departments responded.

Srubar said the fire started on the north end of the 30-foot by 90-foot metal building. The blaze gutted the building that was filled with antique furniture and machines. The two departments put out the fire by around 11 a.m.

No one was at the property when the fire started. The building was not insured. Srubar said investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office arrived with a canine to investigate how the fire started. The cause remains undetermined at this time, he said.
