Weimar Lions Make Donation

The Weimar Lions club presented a $1,000 donation to Turtle Wing Foundation. Turtle Wing Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides services to individuals with learning disabilities in the Fayette, Lavaca, and Colorado counties. ‘Frame of Reference’ Exhibit Begins With a Gallery Talk This Saturday

Documentary and lifestyle photographer April Frazier will open a new exhibit, “Frame of Reference,” at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives with a gallery talk at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21. Frazier will discuss her 20-year journey of discovery of her African-American roots, which led back six generations to rural Muldoon in Fayette County.

County Still in Running for Generator Grant Funds

Fayette County Commissioners voted to reapply for a grant to buy backup power generators for Fayette Water Supply Corporation (FWSC). The County had applied for a hazard mitigation grant from the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) to buy four generators for FWSC.

Local Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident

A La Grange man died in a motorcycle crash near Waldeck after a pickup truck pulled in front of him on FM 1291 Saturday night, May 14. The driver of the pickup, 58-year-old William Kubena of Fayetteville, faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Changes Coming in Waves at LGISD

Two new LGISD school board members, Anthony Wessels place 1 and Travis Ulrich place 2, and one incumbent, Mary Gunn place 3, were sworn in at Monday night’s school board meeting. This occurred after saying goodbye to the two retiring school board members, Dr. Donald Mayer and Greg Trlicek. The administration thanked the outgoing board members for their combined 48 years of service. They were each presented a plaque in recognition for their service to the district.
