Tiemann Wins Trailblazer Award at Cattlemen’s 2022 State Convention
Legendary La Grange veterinarian Dr. James Tiemann won the Trailblazer Award at the 48th Annual Independent Cattleman’s Association Convention and Trade Show in San Marcos earlier this month. Here’s background on Tiemann that was shared at the convention:
The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association (CVICA) would like to recognize a member who has tirelessly served his community for more than seventy years. From his childhood working on the family dairy, to serving the Fayette County area for more than 50 years as a veterinarian. This man honors his ancestry’s fierce determination to provide for his family and fellow county folk. He and his wife raised four children and are ever present and doting grandparents to eleven grandchildren. Although he has retired, an easy chair is not where you will find him. He is usually working in his garden, playing with his grandkids or supporting his community.
As a CVICA member, he has always volunteered his time cooking at the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show and Fayette County Heifer Show. He sells tickets and helps serve food at our “Plates To Go” events. Annually, he provides support to the auctioneer at our Cattlemen’s Dinner. In May, Fayette County has a “Cow/Calf Clinic & Trade Show.” He is on the panel of veterinarians that answers questions from the audience. If cattle programs are being presented, you will find him participating.
For over 160 years his family has been blazing a trail through Fayette County and today we name Dr. James Tiemann a Trailblazer for the Independent Cattlemen’s Association. We thank you for your tireless commitment to the cattle industry and your community.
