CDA No. 1962 Meets, Election of Officers To Be Held May 23

Court Annunciation No. 1962, La Grange, held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Msgr. Mazurkiewicz Center. Members donated items to assist Presley’s Power, a local charity that assists families dealing with childhood cancer.

Zachary Rast Named to SNHU President’s List

Zachary Rast of La Grange has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2022 President’s List. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President’s List.

Guerrero Named to Dean’s List

Sandra Guerrero of Flatonia has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2022 Dean’s List. Fulltime undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 are named to the Dean’s List.

American Legion Quade-Werchan Presents Scholarship to Salinas

At the 2022 Round Top-Carmine High School Academic Banquet held on Tuesday, May 10, American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 presented their annual Essay Scholarship to Ilse Salinas. Salinas submitted the most outstanding essay on a subject chosen by the post related to the U. S. Constitution. She was awarded a scholarship in the amount of $500 and also presented a commemorative pin from the American Legion. Ilse is the daughter of Secundino and Luciana Salinas. Formula Shortage in Fayette Co.

The nationwide shortage of baby formula continues due to supply chain shortages, distribution difficulties and the loss of a major manufacturer. Abbott, one of the largest manufacturers of formula is expected to resume production in as little as two weeks if final approval from the Food and Drug Administration is granted. In Fayette County, supplies have continued to come in to the grocery stores and pharmacies, but are limited.

Navidad Valley CattleWomen to Meet Wednesday, May 25

The Navidad Valley Cattle-Women, with members living in Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca and Gonzales counties, will have their next business meeting on Wednesday, May 25th, at Shiner Diner (803 N. Avenue E, Shiner, TX). Lunch is Dutch treat and RSVPs are requested in order to allow for meals to be prepared to suit attendees wishes. This month there is a choice between a Burger Bowl and a Cheeseburger Basket.

Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Met in May

Peggy J. Dimmick, representing the Capitol Area Agency on Aging, met on the floor of the House of Representatives at the Texas State Capitol, May 2-5, to participate in the 19th Session of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL).
