Commissioners Proposing 5-Percent Raise for All County Employees
Fayette County Commissioners penciled-in a five percent raise for County employees in next year budget.
At their meeting last Thursday, the Commissioners Court officially proposed next year’s salaries for elected officials and ordered them to be published, a requirement in state law. Those salaries included a five percent raise.
The court will officially set salaries for elected officials at a later date. They can chose to set the salaries at an amount lower than the proposed salaries, but the court cannot set them any higher.
Salaries for all other County employees will be set when the Commissioners approve next year’s budget.
At Thursday’s meeting, the Commissioners agreed that raises for elected officials and regular employees would be at the same rate.

*The salary for the County Judge was previously about $600 below that of the four commissioners. This discrepancy was due to former County Judge Ed Janecka, who once turned down a raise during his tenure. At last Thursday’s meeting, the Commissioners decided to bring the County Judge’s salary in line with their own.
