Juneteenth Pagent for Mr. and Mrs. Will be June 18

The Juneteenth Committee is pleased to announce a Mr. and Miss Juneteenth Pageant to be held Saturday, June 18, at 5 p.m. at the Randolph Center in La Grange. The event is open to those three to eighteen years old of all backgrounds.

One Final Election Controversy Results in No Ticket

The most heated Fayette County Judge election in recent memory took another controversial turn last Friday on the last day of early voting. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reported that his department received a criminal complaint against candidate Dan Mueller on May 20.

Drug Bust Made at Carter Motel This Week

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that the Fayette County Undercover Narcotics Unit received information regarding illegal drug activity at the Cartel Motel in La Grange. The narcotics unit conducted a lengthy investigation into the allegations.

Sheriff’s Department Makes Weekend Arrests

On Friday May 20, at 5:58 p.m., Deputy Orlando Buitron responded to a residence near Ellinger in reference to a domestic disturbance. After further investigation, Christine Romero, 41, of Corpus Christi, Texas was arrested and charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family/Household.

It was a beautiful day, everyone was having a wonderful time at the Waldeck Church Picnic on Sunday, May 22. County Commissioner Luke Sternadel was helping out with the raffle drawing by calling out the names that were drawn, blissfully unaware that danger was right around the corner.

Teen Arrested After Disturbance At the Fayette County Courthouse

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Wednesday morning, back up was requested at Fayette County District Court due to a disturbance in the courtroom. Fayette County Deputies, La Grange PD, and Texas DPS arrived on scene to assist. The disturbance was disbanded without major incident.

That Little Voice

I wrote recently about the first part of my upcoming train trip through Switzerland and I’m wrapping up what we expect to experience in the last half of the trip. I will no doubt have lots more to say about this adventure after the fact, but I’m getting revved up by looking at the daily agenda and what is anticipated.

Shelter Update

As of May 20, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter has 105 animals in care: 51 dogs/54 cats.This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

No Summer Lunch In Tuesday’s edition we had information about free summer lunches from LGISD. We have now gotten word from cafeteria director Nancy Fritsch-Tielsch that LGISD “will not be able to provide Curbside Meals in June and July.” Adult Yoga in RT Adult yoga with instructor Betty Melton is held on Mondays at 5 p.m.
