More Than 20% of People Here Have Voted Early

More than 20 percent of registered voters in Fayette County have cast ballots in early voting for the Nov. 8 gubernatorial election. Fayette County elections administrator Terri Hefner reports that 4,006 people have voted early though the first nine days of early voting. That amounts to 22.49 percent of the 17,810 registered voters in the County. That’s roughly on par with early voting statewide, which stood at 21.24 percent as of Wednesday. Early voting ends Friday. This year’s ballot includes only one contested local election – the County Judge race. Republican Dan Mueller faces Libertarian candidate William Martin. So far, the early voting turnout has been slightly behind pace of the last County Judge election in 2018. That year, 4,139 people voted through the first nine days of early voting. Nov. 8 is Election Day with polls around the county open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.
