Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Guadalupe County Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, Sept.16. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Maroon Team was the Champion Junior Livestock Judging Team.

Oct. 2, 1973 A hand crank organ, more than a century old, joined the collection of locally-used 19th century objects at the University of Texas outdoor museum at Winedale.

Deborah Bradley, above, the Director at the Texas Quilt Museum, hosted The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild at the Museum. Deborah’s enthusiasm and love for the exhibits and the building’s history were inspiring. From the current Exhibit “All Creatures Great and Small” to the quilts that were over 100 years old, the galleries were filled with beauty and fine art. Deborah’s vision of future events and renewing old ones will help the Museum grow and CVQG is proud to be a part of it. The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street, Room A East, La Grange, TX 78945. Guild meetings begin at 6 p.m. on even months and 10 a.m. on odd months. Meetings are always open to the public. Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will unveil potential alternative routes for US 77 in Fayette County at an open house meeting on Thursday, Oct. 5.

A crash involving two 18-wheelers claimed a life on Interstate 10 Friday morning, Sept. 19.

An independent auditor gave Fayette County a passing grade on it’s annual financial audit. Greg Trlicek of Stephenson, Legrand and Pfeil LLLC presented the County’s 2022 annual financial audit at the Commissioners Court meeting last Thursday, Sept.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) informed the Fayette County Commissioners Court about major road construction that will begin on SH 159 north of La Grange next year. The Fayette County Commissioners Court acknowledged a letter it received from TxDOT at their meeting last Thursday outlining the construction plans.
