A free sewing workshop class will be held on June 17 for ages 10 to 18 with instructor Cathy Gau. Class size is limited to ten. Students will learn to make a pillow case that they will take home. The library will provide pillowcase kits and sewing machines. A parent or guardian must be present with kids age 10-12. The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (The Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue on Saturday, June 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B A half chicken is $5 and sausage link is $7. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of St. James Preschool.

The annual Ledbetter Homecoming will be held Sunday, June 11 at the Ledbetter Firemen’s Park in Ledbetter. Registration and decoration of the graves at Ledbetter Cemetery with a meeting and memorial service to follow begins at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy bingo, a fried fish meal served with beans, cole slaw, and hush puppies for $15 per plate, and a silent auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle tickets can be purchased from members of the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. Desserts will be available and sold by the Ledbetter Homemaker’s Club. The Ledbetter Homecoming is sponsored by the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department, Ledbetter Homemaker’s Club, and the Ledbetter Cemetery Association.

AMEN Sees Increase In Families Served During May

The AMEN Food Pantry continued to be busy in the month of May. A total of 328 families were served for the month for a total of 957 individuals. In the previous year during the month of May, 256 families were served, which represents a 22 percent increase of families served in May.
