Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller and Commissioners signed a proclamation on Sept. 28 declaring October as Czech Heritage Month in Fayette County. Members of The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) and the Fayette County Czech Heritage Society (FCCHS) were present for the signing.
Texans of Czech descent have made a significant and lasting impression on our County and State’s prosperity and heritage.
Members actively play an important role in sharing contributions in the areas of art, music, literature, food, folklore, and many other fine customs that are a part of Texas’ rich, diverse culture.
At the end of the official Czech immigration (1918), Fayette County’s population was 80 percent Czech. Fayette County became known as the “Cradle of Czech Immigration.”
Everyone is invited to experience these rich customs at the upcoming Heritage Fest & Muzky on Friday evening and Saturday, Oct. 20 and 21, to be held at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center complex in La Grange.
There is something for everyone. The experience will recall memories and make new ones to last a lifetime.
