La Grange ISD has started a 6th grade “Career Cruising” program at La Grange Elementary School, where they call on community members to present career information on various careers. Tuesday the focus was on banking careers and several locals from that profession came to the school to speak to the students.

2023 Deputy Santa Dates Announced

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have announced the dates for this year’s Deputy Santa Program: Nov. 20-Dec. 20. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different locations on Dec. 21.

Antiques Shows Not for the Faint of Heart

A box truck rolled over on SH 237 near Huenefeld Ln. just north of Warrenton Thursday morning, blocking traffic for several hours while the antiques shows that draw thousands of visitors to Warrenton and Round Top was wrapping up last week. The wreck happened around 8:30 a.m. The truck blocked the La Grange-bound lane of traffic, and cleanup operations blocked the other lane intermittently. There were no reported injuries.

The La Grange Senior Citizens annual meeting/luncheon will be held in the gym of the Randolph Recreatoin Center, 653 E. Pearl Street in La Grange, on Thursday, Nov. 2. Registration will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cash door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10:15 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Josh Vandever, Fayette County EMS Director. Lunch consisting of chicken fried steak, twice baked potatoes, green beans, broccoli salad and peach cobbler will be served at 11:30 a.m. for $5.
